Most Wagner tuba players have French horn as their first instrument and whether you are a student, teacher or professional hornist there is always going to be a question you would like answered.
Two of the hornists from the Berlin Philharmonic took the time to record a French Horn Q&A video whilst they were travelling by train to a concert. In the video they answer a diverse range of questions including why they chose the French horn, how much practice is required in different contexts and what they enjoy playing. Stefan Dohr said he prefers playing Bruckner to Mahler and Sarah Willis joined in with enthusiasm when he mentioned playing Mozart!
Although our website is mainly dedicated to the Wagner tuba we recognise the importance of the French horn and, indeed, other brass instruments. Hence we have a dedicated Brass section on the website.
If you are a French hornist, however, you might want to jump straight to our pages on the instrument such as this page on the French horn range and a brief history of the instrument.
