The words ‘tuba’ and ‘world record’ do not often come together in the same sentence. However, less than a month ago, on 7 December 2018, that is exactly what happened! Staged by the Kansas City Symphony at the city’s Municipal Arena, no less than 835 players aged 11-86 came together to play their tubas and euphoniums. They broke the Guinness World Record for the largest tuba ensemble. What did they play? A fabulous rendition of ‘Silent Night’ that lasted 6 minutes and 34 seconds.
Was A Wagner Tuba Present?
No press coverage mentions whether a Wagner tuba was played by any of the participants but perhaps there is one in this video clip. If anyone actually played a Wagner tuba in this incredible record-breaking performance, please let us know. We will gladly feature you in a special post!
